Document Details : Title: Reconsidering the Quest Boundaries in Response to N.T. Wright Subtitle: Schillebeeckx's Jesus as Dawning Third Quest? Author(s): PRUSAK, Bernard P. Journal: Louvain Studies Volume: 32 Issue: 1-2 Date: 2007 Pages: 134-152 DOI: 10.2143/LS.32.1.2032355 Abstract : The criteria for establishing the boundaries between the ‘quests’ for the historical Jesus, and for assigning scholars to a particular quest, involve judgment calls that, in some cases, are open to critical reconsideration. This comparative analysis of Sanders, Schillebeeckx, and Wright, on an issue identified as central for the Third Quest – why Jesus was put to death – will show the transitional frontier overlapping the borders of the New Quest and the Third Quest and the need for more precision in judgments about fellow scholars. |
