Document Details : Title: De volkstalige bewerkingen van een aan Anselmus toegeschreven Maria Magdalena-gebed Subtitle: Overlevering en verspreiding Author(s): ROSSANO, Bram Journal: Ons Geestelijk Erf Volume: 78 Issue: 3-4 Date: December 2004 Pages: 369-380 DOI: 10.2143/OGE.78.3.2028813 Abstract : This article deals with the vernacular adaptations of a prayer to Mary Magdalen ascribed to Anselm of Canterbury. Six Middle Dutch and two Mosel Franconian versions are investigated on their mutual correlation and their relation to the Latin original. Because of its own particular way of translating, one Middle Dutch text, University Library Ghent, ms. 209, fol. 245v-247r, can be seen as an independent adaptation. The other seven give evidence of a strong mutual textual connection. Within this group further gradations of similarity can be disclosed. The text external information, primarily the former location of the codices, underlines the results of the textual research. |
