Document Details : Title: From the God of the Fathers to God the Father Subtitle: Trinity and Its Old Testament Background Author(s): MERRIGAN, Terence , LEMMELIJN, Bénédicte Journal: Louvain Studies Volume: 31 Issue: 3-4 Date: 2006 Pages: 175-195 DOI: 10.2143/LS.31.3.2028182 Abstract : This article combines systematic-theological and exegetical reflection on the apostolic response to the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. More specifically it portrays the apostolic experience as a triptych composed of three ‘moments’, (i) the memory of Jesus, (ii) the Easter experience, and (iii) the experience of the Spirit. This experience was initially articulated by means of a conceptual framework provided by the Old Testament. The article explores that framework and reflects on its significance for the development of early Christian speech about God. |
