Document Details : Title: Paul's Foolish Discourse Subtitle: A Reply to A. Pitta Author(s): LAMBRECHT, Jan Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 83 Issue: 4 Date: 2007 Pages: 407-411 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.83.4.2025346 Abstract : This note replies to the proposal of A. Pitta to no longer refer to 2 Cor 11,1–12,18 as “the Fool’s Speech” but the “immoderate periautologia” of Paul. The vocabulary as well as the reasoning indicate that the qualification of 11,22–12,10 as a foolish discourse of Paul should be maintained. Criticism is also brought forward against Pitta detecting in 11,5-6 a propositio and against his peculiar division of the so-called probatio of 11,7–12,10. |
