The first field season of the el-Umeeiri project was conducted in the summer of 1992, and field investigations continued until 2003 under direct supervision of the author. The main objective of the project was to excavate and study the cemetery area at el- ‘Umeeiri and to compare results with other nearby cemeteries at Amman and Madaba. Fieldwork also included soundings at nearby sites and an intensive surface survey of the area surrounding the cemetery. |
