Document Details : Title: The Celebration of the Body Author(s): SPEELMAN, Willem Marie Journal: Questions Liturgiques/Studies in Liturgy Volume: 87 Issue: 3 Date: 2006 Pages: 196-206 DOI: 10.2143/QL.87.3.2017843 Abstract : Ars celebrandi, the art of celebrating, is the technique of doing something by taking up the position of the witness who is truly, really and substantially present at that something happening. To celebrate something is to let it happen and enjoying it. When an interviewer asked the avant-garde composer John Cage 'If I open this door, is it art?,' the composer answered: 'If you celebrate that act, it's art.' This is even more true in the celebration of liturgy, in which human life in every aspect and time in every hour may be enjoyed as places and moments of the encounter with God. |
