However after the end of the Great War Hendricus senior returned to civilian life. Hendricus Jacobus was the eldest of a family which came to comprise 5 children — 3 sons and 2 daughters, all of whom were gifted people. One brother became an internationally reputed eye surgeon, and the other a composer who “sometimes wrote for 498 performers”. |
