Document Details : Title: Women's Voices in Interreligious Dialogue Subtitle: A Look at the Parliament of the World's Religions Author(s): HILL FLETCHER, Jeannine Journal: Studies in Interreligious Dialogue Volume: 16 Issue: 1 Date: 2006 Pages: 8-28 DOI: 10.2143/SID.16.1.2013488 Abstract : Women’s voices appear to have been absent in the dialogue of the religions both on the printed page and in live dialogue settings. Taking the Parliament of the World’s Religions as an investigative site, this paper asks the central questions: Is women’s engagement in interreligious dialogue distinctive? What can women’s voices add to mainstream interreligious dialogues? A gendered taxonomy of form and content is constructed to examine these questions. This paper illuminates some of the ways women’s voices may contribute distinctive elements to interreligious dialogue. |
