Document Details : Title: Reproductive Technologies in the Context of Marriage Author(s): SCHOTSMANS, Paul Journal: Marriage, Families & Spirituality Volume: 7 Issue: 2 Date: 2001 Pages: 222-229 DOI: 10.2143/INT.7.2.2004519 Abstract : Marriage has traditionally been the place where human life originates, develops, and enters a social context. However, the close connection between marriage and procreation has gradually lost its exclusivity due to significant changes in our social life and also as a consequence of the recent, rapid progress in the field of reproduction technologies. Will procreation eventually become detached from the marital relationship, or rather, do these techniques offer couples the possibility of a fuller married life? The INTAMS review conducted the following interview with Paul Schotsmans, who is both professor of medical ethics at the Catholic University of Leuven and works as ethical advisor in the hospital of the University where these technologies are developed and applied. |
