Marriage? Is that a serious research topic? Is it not really only an intellectual diversion, a marginal topic that distracts attention from the real challenges of our time: demographic development, generational justice, and social coherence? Perhaps, instead, the study of marriage is an ideologically motivated undertaking that aims to force the freedom for private lifestyles, won after long struggles, back into the Procrustean bed of institutional and social control? |
