Document Details : Title: 'Singt dem Herrn ein neues Lied...' Subtitle: Liturgie in der Frauenkirche Author(s): SCHMID, Regula Journal: Journal of the European Society of Women in Theological Research Volume: 3 Date: 1995 Pages: 46-58 DOI: 10.2143/ESWTR.3.0.2003010 Abstract : Many exemplary characteristics of the women's Church can be found in liturgies of women. The author discusses this thesis on the basis of three themes which can be found to take up an equally central place in women's liturgies and the women's Church: the women's Church as a community of equals, the way in which tradition is dealt with and the importance of sensuality and experience. The songs that are sung during a service also serve as a mirror of the way in which we experience the Church. Therefore Regula Schmid compares a traditional book of hymns from the Reformed Church of Switzerland with a book of women's songs. |
