Journal: Iranica Antiqua Volume: 37 Date: 2002 Pages: 105-112 DOI: 10.2143/IA.37.0.119 Abstract : Many inscriptions on seals, parchment, or on stone in the field, were copied by me with the intention of publishing them at a later date, but for various reasons the endeavor was never realized. My greatest disappointment was inability to go to Paikuli, where on two occasions permission was received from Baghdad, and preparations for an expedition were made when disturbances in the Kurdish region canceled the trips. Fortunately a German student from Bonn was able to copy the blocks missing in the original edition by Herzfeld, and the result was an excellent publication by Helmut Humbach and Prods Oktor Skjaervø. My photos always have been shared with others in the sole hope of enriching our information about ancient Iran or Central Asia. So it is in this spirit that photos and data are presented here, with the intention of providing younger scholars with materials on which to work. Some have been mentioned previously, but with more information the repetition will induce others to elaborate on what is here briefly presented. |
