The prominent canon lawyer drew on insights from Bernard Lonergan’s (1904-1984) method to articulate more clearly the relationship between the two disciplines. This article approaches that conversation from a theologian’s perspective. Accordingly, the article proceeds by exploring (1) the place and role of canon law in the Church, or a theology of canon law, and (2) the relationship between theology and canon law. Cet article examine la relation entre la théologie et le droit canonique, en s’appuyant sur les contributions de Ladislas Örsy (1921-2025) à la discussion pour approfondir la compréhension de cette question. Cet éminent canoniste s’est inspiré des idées de Bernard Lonergan (1904-1984) pour articuler plus clairement la relation entre les deux disciplines. Cet article aborde cette conversation du point de vue d’un théologien.
