As the doctrinal development of indulgences emerged and was reshaped throughout the centuries, so also did the devotional life of many Catholics. This essay explores the historical and canonical development of indulgences, particularly after the Second Vatican Council, and their impact in the Church today. Depuis leur introduction au XIe siècle, les actes d’indulgence ont souvent fait l’objet d’incompréhensions, voire d’abus flagrants, dans la vie de l’Église. Au fil des siècles, le développement doctrinal des indulgences a évolué et s’est transformé, tout comme la vie spirituelle de nombreux catholiques. Cet essai explore le développement historique et canonique des indulgences, en particulier après le Concile Vatican II, ainsi que leur impact dans l’Église aujourd’hui. |
