Document Details : Title: A Supplement to Studies in Hittite Economic Administration Author(s): BURGIN, James M. Journal: Orientalia Volume: 94 Issue: 1 Date: 2025 Pages: 1-82 DOI: 10.2143/ORI.94.1.3295535 Abstract : This contribution edits all available Hittite economic texts assigned to Catalogue des Textes Hittites (CTH) 240-250 discovered outside of Boğazköy-Ḫattuša, as well as any texts in this range from Ḫattuša that have been newly discovered or newly published since Studies in Hittite Economic Administration, 2 vols. (Wiesbaden, 2022). Considerations on the scope and scale of economic documentation at Hittite provincial sites are given. It is concluded that the limited amount of textualized economic administration recovered from Hittite contexts remains an outstanding problem, but that the dearth of texts can be partly explained by the focus of Hittite administration on governance, rather than services (with the notable exception of religion), at the communal level. |
