Il est possible de proposer des comparaisons entre ce fonctionnement et celui des collèges et sodalités de prêtres à Rome. Lorsqu’à partir des communautés villageoises archaïques est apparue la cité-État de Gubbio, la sodalité des Atiedii, reposant sur des liens gentilices aristocratiques, a conservé un pouvoir qui n’a pas subi autant qu’à Rome la séparation des fonctions politiques et des fonctions sacerdotales ni la transformation des collèges de prêtres sur le modèle fourni par ceux des magistrats. The Umbrian Iguvine Tables provide a precise documentation on the activities of a sodality of priests, the Brothers Atiedii, who were in charge of at least a part of the public cults in mid-Republican Gubbio. It is possible to suggest comparisons between these activities and those of the colleges and sodalities of priests in Rome. When the city-state of Gubbio emerged from the archaic village communities, the sodality of the Atiedii, based on aristocratic gentilicial ties, retained a power that was not affected as much as in Rome by the separation of political and priestly functions or by the transformation of the colleges of priests along the lines of those of the magistrates. |
