Document Details : Title: Lecture christique de l’Ancien Testament Author(s): BEAUCHAMP, Paul Journal: Biblica Volume: 81 Issue: 1 Date: 2000 Pages: 105-115 DOI: 10.2143/BIB.81.1.3200426 Abstract : Attempting a Christ-oriented reading of the Old Testament is a challenge which invites objections and obstacles. What is the degree of legitimacy or of necessity which the New Testament (the Gospels and Acts) provides for such a reading? We are concerned with those texts which set forth the principle itself rather than with individual citations; such a reading appears as inseparable from the foundations of the faith. Other texts are illuminating for us with regard to the way of carrying this out. This article presents the first lines of a response, by means of a hermeneutical conversion. It presupposes that one cannot distance oneself from the literal meaning and from its spiritual and theological content. |
