Document Details : Title: 'Why do they humiliate us?' Subtitle: Aspects of Resistance in Iraqi Kurdistan Author(s): FISCHER-TAHIR, Andrea Journal: Journal of Kurdish Studies Volume: 5 Date: 2003-2004 Pages: 53-72 DOI: 10.2143/JKS.5.0.578755 Abstract : What are dimensions of action? What does 'political' mean? How is the statement backed up and wich collective identities are being expressed? In present research about Iraqi Kurdistan not enough attention has been paid to political acting subjects, especially the less exposed. But it's just those subjects, who with their practice produce what in general is called 'history'. The conflict about Kurdistan in Iraq could be interpreted at the same time as both the result and starting-point of resistance practice. Individual and collective agents did and do revolt against structures of unequal distribution of power. They do resist. But what are the forms of resistance? What are the specific conditions for action and what are the consequences? How is it finally possible to approach the experiences of both the individual and collective agents? |
