Since 1995, the patient has a known interstitial lung disease. Clinical and laboratory findings are nonspecific. Findings on medical imaging (plain X-ray and CT scan of the chest) in 1995 revealed interstitial lung disease with areas of lung consolidation and mediastinal/hilar adenopathies. Control examinations were performed in 2001 because of a progressive dyspnea and mild hemoptysis; they revealed a progressive and currently cavitating lung pathology. Pathological diagnosis after surgical biopsy revealed "sarcoidosis". The patient deteriorated clinically and died 3 months later because of massive hemoptysis. We report on a rare, nonspecific radiological presentation of a patient with pulmonary sarcoidosis, presenting with excavating lung pathology, and a clinical aggressive evolution with massive hemoptysis. |
