Abstract :
Two sentences pronounced by two of the most important figures in the history of Alexander the Great and his successors illustrate the opinion concerning women’s intervention in politics that was held in Macedonia towards the end of the fourth century BC. Significantly, both sentences referred to the same main figures, namely the regent Antipater and Alexander’s mother Olympias, whose mutual animosity filled some of the most dramatic pages in ancient history.
