Abstract :

Among the great number of Buddhist antiquities offered for sale in Peshawar, Mr. Kurita from Tokyo could photograph some kharoṣṭhī inscriptions which he allowed me to publish. This paper sums up the papers where I first published them for the Japanese and Japanese-reading scholars. The inscriptions here published are Buddhist dedications dated in the years 32, 39 and 98 of the Azes era, which contain important data relating to the political history and onomastics of North-Western India around the Common Era, and four incomplete ink-inscriptions written on sherds belonging to cinerary urns.
