Abstract :
Manjanīq is nowadays a modest village, populated some thirty years ago by 70 persons, on the south bank of the Bulawās River, near the Haft Kel oilfield centre in the Persian province of Khuzistan. Like a number of archaeological sites in Iran, it was first critically examined by Sir Aurel Stein, and described in his Old routes of Western Iran.
