Abstract :
The collection in the Musée Royal de Mariemont contains a bronze flabellum which is of great signficance to the studty of Christian art in the Middle East. In recent years, increasing attention have been paid to the relationship of Christian and Islamic art and architecture in this area. A group of eighteen object commonly referred to as Ayyubid metalwork with Christian images are particularly suitable for a study on this subject.
