Abstract :
Using all the archives currently available (in particular those of the Pro Russia Commission and the Congregation for the Oriental Churches), the complete biography of Dom L. Beauduin (R. LOONBEEK & J. MORTIAU, Un pionnier: Dom Lambert Beauduin (1873-1960). Liturgie et unité des chrétiens, 2 Vol., Louvain-la-Neuve et Chevetogne, 2001, 1612 p.), uncovers the rich personality and the many-facetted work of the “pioneer” who was the founder of the Amay-Chevetogne Monastery. His condemnation and exile (1932-1951) in no way diminished the faithfulness of the Christian, the priest and the monk who made an important contribution to the renewal of the life of Christian communities and theological thinking.
