Abstract :
The textual segment Acts 7,44-50 is the final part of the survey of Israel’s history presented by Stephen’s Speech (7,2-53). The passage leaves us with several questions, the most important of which pertain to its line of argument. What is the specific point that Luke’s Stephen is making here and how does he reach his conclusion? Given the generally held belief that Stephen’s speech is permeated with quotations from and allusions to the LXX and, as a result, is dependent to a significant extent on this Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible, the article attempts to answer this question by turning to the LXX.
