Abstract :

Publication of eight second-century AD «Soternalia» found during the 1920s Metropolitan Museum of Art expedition at Deir el-Bahri: two coffin lids with Demotic inscriptions, two coffin bases, three fragments of coffins and a single fragmentary shroud. The original photographs show how all the objects were reused in late third century AD burials. Their present whereabouts are unknown and they are presumably lost.
