Document Details : Title: Al Mina Subtitle: The Study of a Site Author(s): BOARDMAN, John Journal: Ancient West & East Volume: 1 Issue: 2 Date: 2002 Pages: 315-331 DOI: 10.2143/AWE.1.2.3291992 Abstract : Study of Al Mina since the site was excavated in the late 1930s has depended very largely on the available published material and on preliminary judgments about its history. It has also been much affected by academic attitudes - about the value of pottery, about Graeco-centricity, and about social and economic relationships between Greeks and non-Greeks. Far more of the evidence is now available, but it is not easy to make headway against attitudes by now long-established. The situation is reviewed. |
