Document Details : Title: A Rencontre of Women and Disciplines in Relation to Luke 1:39-56 Author(s): VAN DER KOOI, Akke , MISSET-VAN DE WEG, Magda Journal: Journal of the European Society of Women in Theological Research Volume: 30 Date: 2022 Pages: 33-59 DOI: 10.2143/ESWTR.30.0.3290960 Abstract : The birth narrative in the Gospel of Luke, and especially the so-called Visitation – the rencontre between Elisabeth and Mary – has found its way into the doctrines and life of the churches, into diverse cultures, in art, and into the hearts of many Christians. Through time, many aspects of the narrative received ample scholarly attention, eliciting different responses, but the scene also captivated the imagination of a multitude of artists. In our contribution, we 'listen' to a number of these different voices. To a certain extent, however, we distance ourselves from traditional modes of reading, listening and analysing in order to make room for a rencontre between theology and art that facilitates other experiences and perceptions of the meeting in the hill country. Rencontre captures not only the meeting of the women in the text but also the dynamics, the dialogue, the meeting of contrasting positions and, moreover, the encounter of a Systematic theologian and a Biblical scholar. This rencontre, that is, our interdisciplinary approach, enlarged and deepened our observations and perceptions of the 'texts', which appeared to be instrumental in unlocking other potentials and dynamics. An example of this is, on the one hand, a sharpened sensibility for the everyday life and the social situation of the women in the hill country and, on the other hand, a rethinking of the concept of revelation that honours the double impulse in the movement of revelation: the gift of God’s mystery and also the creative potential in humanity to imagine God’s presence. Die Geburtserzählung im Lukasevangelium und insbesondere die sogenannte Heimsuchung – das rencontre zwischen Elisabeth und Maria – beeinflusste die Lehre und das Leben der Kirchen, verschiedene Kulturen, die Kunst und die Herzen vieler Christ*innen. Im Laufe der Zeit haben viele Aspekte der Erzählung die Aufmerksamkeit der Wissenschaft erregt und unterschiedliche Reaktionen hervorgerufen; die Szene hat auch die Phantasie einer Vielzahl von Künstler*innen beflügelt. In unserem Beitrag 'hören' wir eine Reihe dieser verschiedenen Stimmen. In gewissem Maße entfernen wir uns jedoch von den traditionellen Formen des Lesens, Zuhörens und Analysierens, um Raum für ein rencontre zwischen Theologie und Kunst zu schaffen, das andere Erfahrungen und Wahrnehmungen der Begegnung im Bergland ermöglicht. Rencontre umfasst nicht nur die Begegnung der Frauen im Text, sondern auch die Dynamik, den Dialog, das Aufeinandertreffen gegensätzlicher Positionen und darüber hinaus die Begegnung einer Systematischen Theologin und einer Bibelwissenschaftlerin. Dieses rencontre, d.h. unser interdisziplinärer Ansatz, hat unsere Beobachtungen und Wahrnehmungen der 'Texte' erweitert und vertieft, was sich als nützlich erwiesen hat, um weitere Potenziale und Dynamiken freizusetzen. Einerseits zum Beispiel eine geschärfte Sensibilität für den Alltag und die soziale Situation der Frauen im Bergland, andererseits ein Überdenken des Offenbarungsbegriffs, der den doppelten Impuls in der Bewegung der Offenbarung würdigt: die Gabe des Geheimnisses Gottes und das kreative Potential der Menschheit, sich Gottes Gegenwart vorzustellen. La narrativa del nacimiento en el Evangelio de Lucas, especialmente la así llamada visitación (el encuentro entre Isabel y María), se ha hecho un lugar en las doctrinas y la vida de las iglesias, en diversas culturas, en el arte y en el corazón de muchos cristianos y cristianas. Con el correr de los siglos, muchos aspectos de esta narrativa han recibido la atención de los estudiosos, suscitando distintas respuestas. Pero la escena también ha cautivado la imaginación de multitud de artistas. En esta contribución, queremos 'escuchar' a varias de estas voces. Sin embargo, también queremos distanciarnos hasta cierto punto de la manera tradicional de leer, escuchar y analizar a fin de hacer espacio para un encuentro entre la teología y el arte que facilite otras experiencias y percepciones del encuentro entre Isabel y María en las montañas. Rencontre se refiere, pues, no solo a la reunión de las mujeres en el texto bíblico, sino también a las dinámicas, el diálogo y el encuentro de posiciones opuestas; en particular, se refiere al encuentro de una teóloga sistemática y una biblista. Este rencontre, es decir, nuestro tratamiento interdisciplinar, ha profundizado y ensanchado nuestras observaciones y percepciones de los 'textos', lo cual ha sido esencial para liberar otros potenciales y dinámicas. Un ejemplo de ello es, por un lado, una mayor sensibilidad y perspicacia hacia las condiciones cotidianas y situación social de las mujeres que se encuentran en la montaña. Por otro, un volver a pensar el concepto de revelación de tal forma que dé cuenta del doble impulso que lo anima: el don del misterio de Dios y el potencial creativo en la humanidad para imaginar la presencia de Dios. |
