Abstract :
A copy of the Greek text of Aristotle’s De anima, dated around 1300, Florence, Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana, plut. 87.20, contains numerous extracts from Philoponus’ lost commentary on book III, which has been preserved only partially in the Latin translation of William of Moerbeke (De intellectu) and in Sophonias’ paraphrase. This article gives a survey of these Greek scholia with an edition of some specimens and shows the importance of this discovery for a better understanding of the relation between the two versions of Philoponus’ commentary on book III.
