Abstract :
The article focuses on the Coptic and Armenian versions of De ascetica disciplina by Ps.-Basil of Caesarea (CPG 2890). This ascetic text has survived in two separate Sahidic translations. Furthermore, one of the translations was reworked and included in the Sahidic collection of the Apophthegmata Patrum. While both Coptic versions often differ from the Greek original, they sometimes coincide with an early Latin translation. This suggests that the Greek text, available exclusively in late manuscripts, was standardized after its translation into Coptic and Latin. The Armenian version corresponds well to the Greek, suggesting that this translation is not as early as the Coptic. The article contains the first editions and translations of the Coptic versions, as well as the Armenian text published in the Mechitarist edition of the Vitae Patrum, together with an English translation.
