Abstract :

This article is divided into two parts. In the first one, the author presents the main sources that are supposed to have inspired Qo 2,4-11, i.e.: Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Persian, Greek and Egyptian-Oriental sources. In the second part, he pursues his inquiry on Qo 2,4-11, while operating a double shift, by adopting an intertextual approach and by limiting his analysis to biblical texts. More precisely, he offers an intertextual analysis between, on the one hand, Qo 2,4-11 and, on the other hand, the stories relating to King Solomon (1 Kings 3-11 and 2 Chr 1-9), as well as several texts relating to the creation of the world, in particular Gen 1-3. This double analysis shows that Qo presents himself both as a kind of anti-Salomon, and as a God who would have done everything for himself but not for others, and whose creation reveals itself as being without value.
