Abstract :
Addressing the tension between moral norms and concrete pastoral practice in the field of matrimony, the author touches in this paper on an extremely delicate question to which there is no absolute answer. He is aware of the fact that the very motives that argue in favor of, or against, a slowing down of the contemporary praxis are in an unstable equilibrium. It suffices to shift slightly the angle of the reflections, which are above all pastoral, to see the compass needle moving immediately from one side or from the other. Here, he wishes to recall the existence of a theological-pastoral problem before which no one is entitled to close his or her eyes. The article, originally conceived some forty years ago, has been left in the form of a 'pamphlet' which denounces a pastorally unsatisfying situation and welcomes the path of mercy which Pope Francis seems to have opened.
