Until now, contextual evidence for Sasanian seals and clay sealings uncovered from their archaeological contexts included the examples from Qasr-ī Abu Nasr, Taxt-ī Soleymān, Tepe Kabudān in Iran, Ak-Tepe or old Abivard in Turkmenistan and Dvin in Armenia (to mention just the main cases). The provenances of most of the well-known collections in museums around the world or notable private collections such as the Ahmad Saeedi collection are a matter of considerable uncertainty. |
