Abstract :
This paper proposes that the pneumatology of German theologian Walter Kasper can offer a valuable resource for strengthening the reception of 'lay perspectives' as a vital hermeneutical stance for the church. Lay perspectives are essential theologici loci for the discernment of where the Spirit is at work and is leading the Church in its mission to the world. Kasper’s work is considered in relation to making space for growth in the unity of faith (sensus fidelium), which must include 'lay perspectives', honouring the unique and diverse ways that humanity participates in the life of God.
