Abstract :
The bilingual uncial Codex Bezae Cantabrigiensis (D05) is the only Greek NT manuscript that contains the text of Psalm 2,8 after the quotation of Psalm 2,7 in Acts 13,33. Previous scholarship considers this addition to be an inapt attempt at heightening the universalism of the Acts narrative. The present article, however, argues that the addition was not done in a haphazard fashion. Instead, the addition of Psalm 2,8 to Acts 13,33 D05 serves to heighten the tension of the plot at a crucial point in the D05 Acts narrative with regard to the salvation of the Gentiles. This heightening of tension in the plot is effected by playing on key themes and terms present elsewhere in Acts D05. The tension is resolved at what could be termed the third 'key revelation' in the D05 Acts narrative (Acts 13,48).
