Abstract :
The paper presents an original Ottoman Turkish document issued by the eunuch of Sultan Bayezid I, Hace Firuz ibn Abdullah, governor-general of Rumelia in 1401, whose biography is studied in detail, in favour of the Athonite monastery of Vatopedi. The document bears the tughriform pençe of Hace Firuz ibn Abdullah, the earliest known so far tughriform pençe of an Ottoman official. In the light of this finding, the paper stresses the importance of non-sultanic documents in the context of research on early Ottoman diplomatics.
