Abstract :
This article is an introduction to the general context of the architecture which the Ethiopian Church has developed according to the trends of her liturgy. The most significant markers which can be observed in any given church are described. They allow the study of the development of the churches in relation with the development of the liturgy in the framework of the Churches of the Nile valley. This method is all the more important to document certain aspects of liturgical history that Ge’ez liturgical manuscripts are available no sooner than from the 14th-15th centuries.
