Document Details : Title: Les sources littéraires du Kebra Nagast Author(s): RICHELLE, Matthieu Journal: Journal of Eastern Christian Studies Volume: 64 Issue: 1-2 Date: 2012 Pages: 41-52 DOI: 10.2143/JECS.64.1.2961384 Abstract : In this article, we explore the use of sources and intertextuality in the Ethiopic work called Kebra Nagast. In the first part we briefly highlight some general aspects of the multiple ways the authors deal with their sources. Then we focus on the treatment of the traditions behind the Saba cycle, the heart of the Kebra Nagast. Finally, we discuss the origins of the motif of the eschatological rule of the world divided between the kings of Rome and Ethiopia, which underlie the framework of the work. |
