Abstract :
The article discusses the so-called intertextual names functioning within the space of modern city. The article presents a typology of intertextualization, i.e. descriptions coming into a particular discourse with already existing proper names. According to the kind of the material (prototext) used to construct new onymic components (intertexts) and its origins, three types of name-texts can be distinguished: multidimensional intertexts, unidimensional intertexts and the so-called colloquial (also known as bidimensional intertexts). The first kind of intertextualization reveals the relations between historical names that have been in use in a given town for a long time. Unidimensional texts come into a narration with descriptions that so far have been designated as artificial and without real semantic motivation, including those of commemorative character. The last type includes names constituting colloquial variants of official names, i.e. variants motivated by linguistic reflection.
