His explanations contain hundreds of cited verses, but his purpose in citing them is not always the same. Our aim in this article is to examine the terms that Rashbam uses in referring to the verses that he cites. We first present the different categories of cited verses in Rashbam’s commentaries on the Torah and on Ecclesiastes. We then present the different terms that Rashbam uses in citing verses. The evidence demonstrates that, contrary to the prevailing opinion among scholars, in his commentary on the Torah Rashbam usually employs a systematic and fixed terminology when referring to cited verses. Un des moyens exégétiques employés par Rashbam (Samuel ben Meir), dans son commentaire sur la Bible, consiste à citer des versets bibliques. Son commentaire compte plusieurs centaines de versets bibliques, cependant ses motifs quant à ces nombreuses citations peuvent varier. Cet article se propose d'examiner de près la terminologie employée par Rashbam dans ses citations de versets bibliques. Dans un premier temps, nous présentons les différentes catégories de versets cités dans les commentaires sur le Pentateuque et l'Ecclésiaste. Par la suite, notre attention se porte sur les termes spécifiques utilisés par Rashbam dans sa présentation des versets. Cette analyse nous amène à conclure que, contrairement à l'opinion généralement reçue parmi les chercheurs, Rashbam utilise dans son commentaire une terminologie systématique et régulière lorsqu'il cite les versets de la Bible. |
