It needs to be re-visited and understood in order to help us answer God’s call to be united in diversity. The process itself of interpreting 'communion' through theological discourse, sensibility and formation undoubtedly contributes to and enhances ecumenical dialogue. There is no single interpretation of communion. Rather, the different approaches to communion ecclesiology pursued by theologians belonging to different Christian traditions differ and meet simultaneously. Here, a comparative study between the Catholic French Dominican Yves Congar, the Greek Orthodox John Zizioulas and the Lutheran Jürgen Moltmann is undertaken. Such a theological exercise not only evidences the richness of such an ecclesiology, but also consolidates the much-needed dynamism to foster its growth toward full communion in truth and charity. |
