Dans un premier temps, le sublime renvoie à la satisfaction découlant de notre élévation au-dessus de la nature et il finit par coïncider avec notre destination morale ou suprasensible. Dans un second temps toutefois, il se rapporte plutôt à une sensibilité à la nature révélatrice d’une tout autre humanité. Car si la première élaboration du sublime est centrée sur l’idée de notre indépendance et supériorité par rapport à la nature, la seconde manifeste au contraire notre appartenance à celle-ci. The objective here is to show that the Critique of Judgement contains two opposing interpretations of the sublime and that this contradiction is due to the presence in it of two rival underlying concepts of humanity. On the one hand, the sublime refers to the satisfaction deriving from our elevation above nature and it ends by coinciding with our moral or suprasensible destination. On the other hand, however, it rather refers to a sensibility to nature that reveals a completely different view of humanity. Thus, whereas the first elaboration of the sublime is centred on the idea of our independence of and superiority to nature, the second, on the contrary, shows that we belong to it. |
