Abstract :
We are living in a multicultural, post-secular society. In this society the responsibility of members of religious communities is vital to establishing a religious climate based on piece and harmony. The first step is to seek common foundational values for both sides and to try to understand each other. One basis is, of course, Jesus, a central religious figure in Christianity and also a very significant one in the Qur’an and Islamic theologies. Jesus can be a starting point in the process of dialogue. Al-Ghazali’s interpretative methodology regarding some verses in the Bible on Jesus can also be adopted by Muslims as a basic method. Taking al-Ghazali’s approach and criticism into consideration may lead Muslims and Christians to work harder at developing a common Christology between them. In this process Muslims and Christian theologians have to cooperate to create a common Christology.
