Abstract :
This paper deals with some of the typical aspects and major concerns of interfaith marriage (between Catholics and non-Christians) in the Asian context. It indicates the challenges which the Church in multicultural and multi-religious Asian countries must address as part of an evangelization in dialogue. Interfaith marriages call for new theological perspectives, pastoral guidelines, and canonical interpretations that are responsive to their unique situation in the spirit of a theology of dialogue. By embracing the challenges of interfaith marriages and families from a dialogical perspective, the Church can see them as an opportunity for promoting interreligious dialogue in this fundamental area of human community and society while developing an inculturated ministry to them. This will help the Church in its work of evangelization in the twenty-first century as a growing, healthy, and holy witness to Jesus Christ and the Gospel and as a servant of the people in a multicultural and multi-religious Asia.
