Abstract :
This study tells about a small kaftan of turquoise silk, which was found in the early twentieth century in a late medieval cemetery in North Ossetia, northern Caucasus. The garment is decorated with woven images, including human figures among a lush floral vegetation. The kaftan is now housed in the St. Petersburg Russian Ethnographic Museum.
