Abstract :
This article is a continuation of a study published in Khil'a 1, and provides a detailed sketch of the Mukhawi (modern Yemen) textile market in the years 1614-1640, based on source materials of the Dutch East India Company. While in the earlier study the emphasis lay on the many sorts and varieties of products, this article focuses on the transactions themselves, discussing supply, import, transit, the weavers, buyers, brokers, merchants, cargoes, the market size, purchase and sales prices, profits and targets.
