Around twenty doctoral theses on onomastics have been published, most of them within the past three decades. The majority of the studies have dealt with place names, but during the past few years, research into personal names has gained more focus. Onomastic teaching covering all the stages of academic studies was introduced at the University of Helsinki at the end of the 1960s, at the same time as a professorship in onomastics was founded. The professorship has also had a decisive effect on the development of onomastics as a field of research and on its general overall visibility. Research and teaching have gone hand in hand so that students have been offered the opportunity to work on their own degree papers within the research projects together with the senior researchers. In the past few years, large-scale socio-onomastic research into official and unofficial urban place names has been realized as joint research projects by several universities and the Research Institute for the Languages of Finland. En Finlande, la recherche et l’enseignement onomastique se poursuivent avec force à l’Université d’Helsinki depuis des décennies. Une vingtaine de thèses d’onomastique ont été publiées, la plupart ces trente dernières années. La majeure partie traite de toponymie mais, depuis, quelques années, l’anthroponymie a gagné du terrain. L’enseignement onomastique à toutes les étapes des études universitaires a été introduit à l’Université d’Helsinki dès la fin des années 60, tandis qu’une chaire d’onomastique était créée. Cette création a eu un effet décisif sur le développement de l’onomastique comme champ de recherche et sa visibilité générale. Recherche et enseignement ont fonctionné de pair, si bien que les étudiants ont pu travailler leurs sujets d’examens dans le cadre des projets de recherche avec les chercheurs expérimentés. Ces dernières années, une recherche socio-onomastique, à grande échelle, a pu être menée sur les noms de lieux urbains officiels ou non, dans le cadre de projets communs à plusieurs Universités et à l’Institut de Recherche sur les Langues de Finlande. Seit Jahrzehnten ist die Onomastik in Finnland in Lehre und Forschung am stärksten an der Universität Helsinki vertreten. Auf dem Gebiet der Namenforschung sind rund zwei Dutzend Dissertationen erschienen, die meisten in den letzten drei Jahrzehnten, wobei sich der größte Teil der Arbeiten mit Ortsnamen beschäftigte. In den letzten Jahren aber ist die Personennamenforschung stark im Vormarsch. Die onomastische Lehre am Institut für Fennistik an der Universität Helsinki konnte in vollem Umfang aufgenommen werden, als Ende der sechziger Jahre eine Professur für Namenforschung gegründet wurde. Dieser Schritt hatte entscheidende Bedeutung für die Entwicklung und die allgemeine Bekanntheit des Fachs Onomastik. Forschung und Lehre gehen Hand in Hand, den Studenten wird die Möglichkeit geboten, ihre Examensarbeiten im Rahmen von Forschungsprojekten in Zusammenarbeit mit erfahrenen Wissenschaftlern zu erstellen. In den letzten Jahren sind in Kooperation zwischen verschiedenen Universitäten und dem Forschungszentrum für die Landessprachen Finnlands große sozio-onomastische Forschungsprojekte verwirklicht worden, in deren Mittelpunkt das offizielle und inoffizielle Ortsnamengut in Städten steht. |
