Most dreams appear associated with kings, caliphs and prophets but this allusion is strikingly discontinued for his description of the Umayyad period. The prominence of rebels as opposed to royalty in the Umayyad dreams shows the importance of the revolts against the caliphs in the eyes of Tabari. Among these rebels, two names stand out: al-Husayn b. Abi Talib and Said b. Jubayr. |
