It is also an inquiry into what moral theology must do to benefit from and rise up to the challenges of a truly world-wide ecclesial communion in a world that has truly become “a single place” as a result of globalization. The first section briefly examines the notion of a world church while the second section looks briefly at “classical moral theology” and its limitation and consequent need for continued expansion. In the third section, some suggestions are offered on how this expansion can occur from the point of view of the reality of a Church and theology which have now assumed global dimensions. The fourth and final section considers the question of marriage from an African point of view and inquires how this common human institution can challenge and be challenged by other parts of the world church. |
