Il souligne aussi bien les ressources que les faiblesses de la mémoire, ainsi que l’abus qu’on peut en faire. Il propose ensuite une épistémologie de l’entreprise historienne et une analyse de la condition historique de l’être humain. Il étudie enfin le statut de l’oubli, sa fonction bienfaisante comme ses dérives pathologiques. Il consacre un épilogue au pardon, qu’il qualifie de difficile. P. Ricœur embraces three themes: memory, history and forgetfulness. He underlines both the resources and the weaknesses of memory as well as the abuse to which it cab be put. He then proposes an epistemology of historical undertaking and an analysis of the historical condition of human beings. Finally he studies the status of forgetfulness, its beneficial function and its pathological deviances. He devotes an epilogue to forgiveness which he defines as «difficult». |
